One of our team members will welcome you at the airport to take you to your hotel where you will meet your guide and we can talk about the trip in more detail and answer any questions you may have. The rest of the day is free to relax and perhaps discover the bazaar and surrounding areas.
Today there is a full day sightseeing around the Kathmandu Valley touring its premium destinations that have managed to find a place in the UNESCO world’s heritage list. We begin with Swayambhunath climbing its stairs which are said to encompass the 13 paths to reach enlightenment. The Hindu heritage of Pashupatinath is next on our list resonating in the prayers of thousands who visit the temple each day. We head towards Kathmandu Durbar square to witness a historical journey encompassing generations of Nepalese Kings before ending our journey at Boudhanath well known for its sunset views.
Our whole team leaves for Pokhara today. We check out of the hotel for the drive to Pokhara, 200 kilometers west of Kathmandu. The drive is an excellent experience of Nepal’s highway system and a very scenic one with the rolling foothills, mountain views and along fast flowing rivers. When we reach Pokhara, this beautiful lake town always provides a welcoming gesture with stunning views of the mountains on a clear day. We check into our hotel and relax.
We use Tourist Bus to Pokhara. If the group is big, we will drive by a private vehicle.
If you want to fly to Pokhara, the cost will be an extra.
After an early breakfast, we drive to Nayapul, our starting and ending point of this trek it takes around an hour by car from Pokhara. Then start our trek to Birethati, a prosperous small town beside the Modi River. Our trek today is fairly easy one starting with a walk on a broad dirt road along the Modi Khola valley for the first half hour.We leave the valley and head towards Tikhedhunga.
A small settlement of tea houses, Tikhedhunga makes a perfect place to spend overnight. On the way we pass local villages and see waterfalls, cascading from above.
Today we make our way to Ghorepani. The trail is a long but steady incline passing small waterfalls and streams along the way to the village of Ghorepani. It is tougher than yesterday as we have to climb 3300 steps the reward is well worth it though from Ghorepani we have some fantastic snow capped views of Annapurna South Dhualagiri and Macchapucchare.
The trek to Poon Hill (3195m) is a must for us.We make the walk up before dawn to this celebrated viewpoint before the first light of dawn. Sunrise over the Annapurnas is an unforgettable experience,We follow up the well-marked path by the light of our head torches, reaching the summit as the first rays of the sun illuminate Dhaulagiri and Tukuche Peak with a beautiful pink glow. The walk takes around 45 minutes.
After enjoying the view, we retrace our steps to Ghorepani for a hearty breakfast, before setting off on our trek to Tadapani. A short early morning climb to the Deurali pass for a spectacular panorama over Dhaulagiri and Annapurna. The trail descends steeply through the dense moss-covered forest with rich bird life to Tadapani which also provides a lovely close-up sunset view.
Today the trekking trail is a lot easier as it descends steeply through rhododendron forests to Baise Kharka. On the way there are troops of monkeys and a wide varietiy of birds. The right-hand trail makes a short, steep descent among rocks to a stream crossing then leads out a ridge towards Ghandruk.
Ghandruk is a beautiful village, the second largest Gurung village in Nepal. We reach there for lunch and we have the afternoon to explore the maze-like streets of this thriving old Gurung settlement. There are some splendid mountain views of Annapurna South and Fishtail from Ghandruk.
After Breakfast in Ghandruk we have another easy day to end our trek. The trail passes through small hamlets, terraced rice fields and subtropical forests. We head down to the valley floor then mostly follow the ever-flowing Modi Khola. Its an easy and very pleasant walk to Birethanti and a fitting end to some fabulous days in the mountains.
We take lunch in Birethanti before continuing our walk to Nayapul to meet our private vehicle for the one hour drive back to Pokhara and the transfer to our hotel.
We drive back to Kathmandu arriving mid afternoon at our hotel. Spend time at leisure. (You also have an option to fly back to Kathmandu at an additional cost.) A farewell evening meal in a traditional restaurant is planned.
Today its time to move on we hope you have had a great time with us and we would like to meet again in the future. If you are flying today.we will drop you at the airport as per your flight schedule or assist you with any other move.

An Extraordinary Experience
Reflecting upon a wonderful time in Nepal with my two adult sons. A nine day trek from Kathmandu to Pokhara and into the Annapurna region with highlights all the way, topped by sunrise on Poon Hill and a final day stroll with the snow capped peaks as a backdrop. Of course, weather is uncontrollable so we had a couple of days walking trails through forests and climbing slopes with mist above without the peaks for company, but always local nature, farm and village life to observe.
Throughout this adventure we were accompanied by our experienced and affable guide Hari from Himalaya Heart Treks & Expedition. Hari made sure our day to day trekking, meals, accommodation and activities were everything, and more, of what we hoped for. Keeping spirits up when the occasional difficult moments arose, as they will on such a venture, Hari was always telling you what you needed to hear at any moment - his timing impeccable. This Hari achieved not only by his attention to detail for every element of the trek, but also with an understanding of individual differences between everyone in the group, and responding accordingly.
Hari was also flexible organising a small mid-trek deviation in plans, and assisting us with the other sightseeing activities before and after the arranged trek. As a father in my mid-60s (and of average fitness) wanting a once in a lifetime experience with sons in their 20s and 30s I couldn’t have asked for more, and I have no hesitation recommending Himalaya Heart Treks & Expedition and Hari as a guide, if you are seeking a similarly extraordinary experience.

Second time trek with Hari
May 2022 • Couples
This is my second time in Nepal using Himalaya Heart Treks & Expeditions. I cannot fault their service! From day one, picking us up at the airport, getting us to Poonhill and arriving back to Kathmandu safely. Our guide Hari, and our porter Navaraj were absolutely great! They went above and beyond everyday to look after us. Hari’s experience and knowledge is second to none. He had us well prepped on what equipment to bring and our accomodation was exactly what we needed. Even when our travel plans changed at late notice Hari did all he could to accommodate us. I highly recommend booking your trip with Himalaya Heart Treks and Expeditions and to request Hari as your guide.

Great End of Year Trek
Dec 2022
This was an excellent trip overall. Fantastic views of landscapes, villages and mountains. Speaking of the team Hari was exceptional - attentive, knowledgeable and always did whatever he could to make our trip pleasant. It was also helpful that he was flexible and always provided options in regards to the trek, activities, where we stayed and how we got there. He was like this not only for the trek but also our stay in Kathmandu / Pokhara before and after it. Nabaraj was also extremely friendly, considerate and did everything with a smile (which is impressive when he is also carrying our bags across the entire trek). Would highly recommend this trip, Hari and the team!

Amazing trip to nepal
May 2024 • Family
As veterans of three Himalayan treks with different operators we can say confidently that Himalaya Heart Treks and Expeditions is simply the best. Shital organised and led our 3-generations family group of six (aged from 7 to 74!) on the Poon Hill trek. His attention to every planning detail was meticulous. His personal service was outstanding: he met us at the airport on our arrival in Nepal, and he saw us off at the end of our subsequent stay in Kathmandu; and he arranged everything in between. He also happens to be a world-class guy with really excellent English: a fantastic ambassador for this wonderful country. We would now use no other trekking company.

Amazinfg trip
We had an incredible trip thanks to Hari. Due to safety concerns from landslides, Hari adapted our hike quickly and effectively with clear communication throughout whilst also consulting us on our interests. We went on the Poon Hill trek over 5 days.
Hari’s hospitality was impeccable and genuine - always thinking of ways to go above and beyond, provide a great experience. He ensured we had great views, stories and history about the mountains and villages. He’s also built great relationships with guest houses, tea houses and hotels and knows lots of people around and has inside knowledge - local millet / rice wine , delicious Dal bhat, nice restaurants and hotels on either end of the hike in Kathmandu and Pokhara. I would definitely recommend Hari and Himalaya Heart Treks. All round 10/10 trip. Thanks and looking forward to going on another with Hari to Mustang !

If you come to Nepal, book Shital Dharel. He is the best!
We are a family from Zurich/Switzerland with two sons (9 and 12 years old). In April 2024 we visited Kathmandu and from there we travelled to Pokhara and trekked to Poon Hill. Shital was our guide. We have travelled a lot and all over the world, from South America to the Middle East and Oceania. We have never had such a warm, helpful, competent and thoughtful guide as Shital. He organised everything perfectly, immediately provided alternatives in the event of problems (cancelled flights due to forest fires) and also helped us in all other situations (with the children: nausea during the trip, etc.).
Therefore: If you come to Nepal, book Shital Dharel. He is the best!
